What to Expect: Kids' Ski Lessons Designed for Parental Peace of Mind

We know that leaving your child with us is an act of trust. Our entire kids’ program is built to not only teach your child to ski but to give you complete confidence and peace of mind from the moment you say goodbye.

1. The Welcome & Safe Handover
Your lesson starts with a warm welcome from our dedicated kids’ instructors. This is a crucial time for us to connect with both you and your child, answer any last-minute questions, and ensure your child feels comfortable and excited before you leave.

2. Gear Up in Our Dedicated Area
If you have rented with us, we will get your child fitted into their premium HEAD equipment. Our center is located just 50m from the gondola, making this process quick and easy. We double-check that all equipment—skis, boots, and helmet—fits perfectly for both safety and comfort.

3. The Learning Journey Begins on Safe Ground
We use a dedicated, fenced-off beginner area (a “kids’ garden”) that is safe, flat, and away from faster skiers. Here, learning feels like playing. Our instructors use games, stories, and positive reinforcement to teach the fundamentals:

  • How to walk and glide on skis

  • The all-important “snowplow” (pizza) to control speed and stop

  • How to use the “magic carpet” lift

  • How to make their first gentle turns

4. Constant Care & Communication
Your child’s safety and happiness are our absolute priority.

  • Small Groups: We maintain very small instructor-to-child ratios to ensure personal attention.

  • Safety First: Our instructors are first-aid certified and focused on your child’s well-being at all times.

  • Hydration & Breaks: We regularly pause for water and rest to keep energy levels high.

  • Open Line: You are welcome to observe from a distance, and our team is always available to give you a quick update.

5. The Happy Pick-Up & Progress Report
At the end of the lesson, we’ll return to our meeting point. You’ll be greeted by a (hopefully) tired but happy child, and the instructor will give you a quick update on what they learned and how they did, so you can celebrate their achievements together.

We don’t just teach kids to ski; we help them fall in love with the snow in the safest possible environment.

When you book your lessons you’ll have the opportunity to tell us a little more about what you want out of your lessons. Our team will use this to help select the perfect ski instructor. If they need any more information they will get in touch before your lessons start.

In the days before your ski lessons start you will get a couple of emails from us. Reconfirming where you’re meeting your ski instructor and letting you know their name, if you don’t already.

When you arrive for your first lesson your ski instructor will quickly double check they have all the correct information. And, if needed give you avalanche safety equipment for off-piste lessons.

Then away you go.

Tips for Parents: Ensuring a Great First Lesson for Your Child

Leaving your child for their first ski lesson can feel like a big step. These tips, straight from our experienced instructors, will help ensure your little one has a safe, fun, and successful start on the snow.

1. Prepare Them Positively
In the days before, talk about the lesson as a fun new adventure! Explain they’ll meet a friendly “mountain guide” who will play games on skis. Avoid projecting your own anxieties and focus on the excitement.

2. The Golden Rule: A Confident & Quick Goodbye
When it’s time to leave, be cheerful and confident. A long, hesitant goodbye can increase anxiety. Give a quick hug, a big smile, tell them you’re excited to hear all about their adventure, and leave promptly. Our instructors are experts at gently distracting and engaging children the moment you go.

3. Dress Them for Success (Comfort is Key)

  • Layers: Use non-cotton base layers, a warm mid-layer, and a waterproof ski jacket and pants.

  • Accessories: Don’t forget waterproof gloves, a neck warmer (preferable to a scarf), and goggles or sunglasses. Apply sunscreen!

  • Label Everything: Please label all their clothing and gear with their name.

4. Equip Us with Key Information
Please inform the instructor about any important details before you leave:

  • Any medical issues (e.g., asthma, allergies).

  • If they might be tired or hungry.

  • Their comfort level with trying new things.

  • Any specific fears we should know about.

5. Trust the Process (and Our Pros)
It is perfectly normal for some children to cry at drop-off. Our instructors are trained to handle this with patience and empathy. Please resist the urge to come back immediately if you hear crying; we will contact you immediately if there is a problem we cannot resolve. Most tears stop within minutes once the activity begins.

6. Be Ready to Celebrate!
After the lesson, be ready to listen and celebrate their achievements, no matter how small—from simply putting on their skis to sliding a few meters. Your positive reaction is the best motivation for them to want to come back.

We are partners in this adventure. Our goal is to earn your trust and give your child a wonderful introduction to the mountains.

Try and keep the people in the group at similar ability levels. Our team can manage groups of different levels, but safety is our top priority. So we’ll stick to runs that are suitable for the weakest skier in the group. So faster skiers might feel less challenged.

If you’re planning on skiing off-piste make sure you let us know in advance. We’ll need to make sure your instructor has safety gear for everyone who needs it. And, our team like to be able to start planning in advance. Checking in on snow conditions and avalanche risk in the areas they think would be good for your group.

If you have specific restaurants you would like to stop at, it’s worth booking them in advance. The most popular spots fill quickly. Our team can do this on your behalf if you like.
